Call for Papers 2026

Pensiero: Undergraduate Journal of Italian Language and Culture is pleased to announce that we are accepting submissions for our first issue! If you have written a research paper you are proud of, or have created original work inspired by Italian culture and language, we encourage you to submit your work for consideration. Pensiero wishes to showcase the beauty and vastness of Italian and Italian-Canadian language and culture through Research Articles and Creative Writing pieces. We are currently accepting pieces in English or Italian on the following topics: 

• Anything related to Italian culture, including: art, history, literature, linguistics, language, cinema, music, opera, food studies, migration, and diaspora studies.
• Anything related to Italian-Canadian culture, including: literature, history, identity, and language.

Research Articles can range from 1,500 to 6,000 words in length, including MLA citations. Creative Writing Pieces have a maximum length of 1,500 words.

Pensiero is open to authors from any institution worldwide. We invite undergraduate students or recent graduates (within 2–3 years) to submit their undergraduate-level pieces. Submissions must be original and not previously published or under review for publication.

All submissions will undergo a double-blind review process, meaning that the identity of the reviewer is not disclosed, nor is the author of the work submitted. Applicants should include an anonymous biography statement with their year of study, university, and optionally, their area of study at the top of their submission.

Submit your work by clicking the “Make a Submission” button on the right side of the website. The final deadline for submissions is April 10, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
